Abby+Neil

Mariann October 27th, 2007

Girl moves to neighborhood. Boy across the street asks her out. Girl’s dad says no. A couple years later boy asks again. Girl’s dad says yes. A few years later boy gives ring to girl. That’s the short and simple version of how Abby and Neil got engaged.

I thought I was a busy girl until I found out the Abby is planning two weddings (one in New York and a 3-day one in Trinidad), goes to school and works. Now, that is a handful. Kudos to Abby for keeping her head straight.

I met up with Abby and Neil to do a mini engagement session for their Save the Date cards. Here are some of my favorites.

Gloria+Paul

Mariann October 23rd, 2007

I enjoyed spending time with Gloria and Paul and getting to know them a little better. So how does a girl from Canada and a boy from England meet and fall in love?

Through their international careers of course somewhere across the ocean.

We started the engagement portrait session in Central Park with some lovely portraits then we headed down to the West Village/Meatpacking District for the fun and edgier shots.

Jeff+Liz+Sophie

Mariann October 22nd, 2007

I love hanging out with Liz, Jeff and Sophie and photographing this family. They’re always lots of fun with great ideas. Sophie is completely natural in front of the camera.

Last year’s portraits and holiday card were a big hit with friends and family so we tried to top that.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Emily and Phil’s wedding

Mariann October 22nd, 2007

Emily and Phil got married at the Foundry in Long Island City, one of my favorite places, on a warm October day.

Here are some of my favorite images from their wedding day.

Check out the cool looking and ergonomic wedding bands.

Both dads made a toast to the couple and so did Phil’s sister and college friends.

The DJ was playing a very special songlist upon the request of Phil and Emily who both have very sophisticated taste in music.

Some of the songs were from Belle and Sebastian, Spiritualized, and the soundtrack of Trainspotting.

Alana and Ola said “I do”

Mariann October 13th, 2007

Alana and Ola got married in the Infant Jesus church in Port Jefferson and celebrated at Danfords on the Sound with friends and family.

We took advantage of the gorgeous October day on Long Island and did a lot of outside portraits of Alana, Ola and their wedding party.

The couple included some Swedish traditions in their wedding day such as seating people next to each other at the table who don’t know one another.

Alana and Ola rented a vintage Buick for the quick rides between the church and Danfords.

It was a wonderful day filled with love and laughter.

Here are some of my favorite moments.

Lauren+Doc: A city and country wedding

Mariann October 7th, 2007

Lauren and Doc got married in the Brick Church in Manhattan and had their reception at the Rockaway Hunting Club.

Lauren looked absolutely stunning in her Oscar de la Renta gown carrying a bouquet of lillies of the valley.

Rene of Mille Fiori transformed the tent into a wedding wonderland with the centerpieces, white and green flowers and hundreds of candles.

The band Eturnity was outstanding and kept the guests dancing all night long. It was truly an exquisite wedding.

Here are some highlights from the wedding day.
