Kids, kites and art at Socrates

Mariann April 29th, 2007

This morning I was looking out the window and saw dozens of kites flying above Socrates sculpture park in Long Island City. I thought it’s a good day to take a short walk, play around with my lensbaby in the park and check out the new sculptures.
Here are a few images from en route to the park and at the sculpture park.

Go green!

Mariann April 22nd, 2007

I am such a lucky person that I get to share my birthday with the entire planet.

So where is the perfect place in New York City to celebrate Earth Day/birthday? The Brooklyn Botanic Garden!

In April the cherry and magnolia trees start to blossom and thousands of people flock to the garden to see them. Here are a few of my images I took today.

Miss L.’s chic and beautiful boudoir portraits

Mariann April 21st, 2007

It was a blast photographing Miss L. who is getting married in a few weeks on a gorgeous island. She was fun, enthusiastic and very excited about her portraits. She creatively put together her wardrobe for the session and picked a variety of outfits that were fun, sexy, modern and really complimented her. Here are a few shots and the rest are for “his eyes only”….

After the ceremony the couple and their guests walked across the street to Battery Gardens where the reception was held.
The view from Battery Gardens is gorgeous and the guests enjoyed seeing Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan.

Max and Ru’s wedding party

Mariann April 7th, 2007

Max and Ru exchanged vows a few months ago in New York City.

Now they celebrated their wedding and marriage with friends and family from all over the world. Both Max and Ru are super talented artists in New York City who do illustrations, animations and design. Ru’s parents flew in from Japan to celebrate the joyous occasion at Max’s parents’ house on Long Island.

This was a 3-D illustration that Ru and Max created and used as their cards.

Ru with her parents.

Ru’s father entertaining the guests playing his charango.

And the guests sang along.

Married superpowers.

Orchids

Mariann April 1st, 2007

Every year the New York Botanical Garden hosts a very special exhibition, the Orchid show.
It features thousands of beautiful orchids from dozens of different species. The colors, shapes and details of these flowers are just amazing.

Here are some of the images I took at the show.  (I also sneaked in a fern because ferns are just so cool!)
